Need help with E-MU Xboard 49 Hi all, I'm new at this and need some help. I just bought a E-mu Xboard 49 USB/MIDI controller and a Lexicon Alpha USB 2.0 interface for my Gateway laptop ( 1.5GHz 2 GB RAM, 80 GB 7200 rpm HD with SoundMax sound card) using CWHS 6XL. I loaded the drivers and all SW for both units and the computer seems to recognize them. I also loaded the Proteus X2 software. Here's the problem, for example, I can load the Grand Piano softsynth play the keyboard and get absolutely no sound. I am set up (I thought) for the keyboard to control the softsynth, the softsynth to convert to audio (no need for Microsoft Wavetable), the audio to go through the USB to the Lexicon alpha and then out to the powered monitors. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Do I have to use the Soundmax soundcard? Is there any way to test the Xboard using CWHS 6 XL? I loaded the Proteus VST into my Cakewalk VST folder and of course I have deminsion LE. Thanks for your help! (I need to edit my signature the M-Audio Fireaire was buggy and quit working so I bought the Lexicon Alpha). OK Thanks for the quick response. I do have the Lexicon Alpha set for audio output and recording input and I have the Xboard set for MIDI playback (only other choice was GS WaveTable). I got a cakewalk MIDI tune to play back using the Alpha and TTS-1 synth (Dumb me did not have the Monitor Mix knob turned up on the Alpha!!) But I have yet to get a sound out of the Xboard. I am trying to use a Studio Grand Piano plug in that came with the unit. I have the audio (in the softsynth) set for Alpha ASIO. But no sound. Any ideas or any ideas on how to test the keyboard using Cakewalk? Did you open the Xboard Control and set the device to your Xboard 49? BTW, I have the Xboard 61. You need to set that up to play the standalone Studio Grand. In Cakewalk, it should work right away if you select 'All Inputs' - 'Midi Omni' for the input on a midi track, and select a synth for the output. Also, under Options - Midi Devices, you should be able to select the Xboard, since Cakewalk recognizes it. If it's not there yet, you will need to do a VST scan to the folder where the Xboard and Proteus programs are located. Beware, Proteus X2 is a buggy synth, IMO. Hi, thanks again.
